The intersection of Summit Ave. and Fern Canyon Rd. serves up one of the best views on the slopes of Mount Tam. The south-facing view serves up a look at the San Francisco skyline and Hwy. 101 north fo the Waldo Tunnel, with the Richardson Bay bridge in the foreground.

Nice shot of the lower part of Mill Valley, but the beauty of Fern Canyon Rd. is in the opposite direction. It is the close view of Mt. Tam that is super special. The view of Mt. Tam can be seen from many towns and cities in southern and central Marin, but the view from Fern Canyon Rd. and all of upper Mill Valley is by far my favorite, it is much closer than all the other towns. And for what it's worth, there is a view of Mt. Tam in Novato, way up at the top of Cerro Crest Dr., but that is the only place in the city of Novato that Mt.Tam can be seen. Having lived around all sides of Mt. Tam, my opinion is that Fern Canyon Rd. smokes all the other views. When I am up there, I try and not to look down into the city, and appreciate the special place that is Mt.Tam, I can view the city anytime from most other places.
