Tam Musicians and Artists Put on a Show at Foundation Fundraiser

Hundreds attend event and auction at Outdoor Art Club to raise money for academic programs.

More than 200 people poured into the Sunday for the annual Tam Supper Club Fundraiser host by the . Event co-chair Joyce Porter said the group reached and possibly exceeded its goal of raising $30,000 at the event.

The event's big draw is the artistic talent of Tam High students, with performances from a range of musicians, including the jazz ensemble, the a capella group and a string quartet, among others. A host of Tam High's thespians performed, and several artists also put up their work as part of a silent auctioon.

The foundation funded more than $400,000 for technology, guest artists and speakers, educational materials and other innovative programs at Tam last year, and expects to fund even more grants in the coming school year. The foundation also pays to keep th school library open from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. each weekday. It doesn't raise money for athletics, as that is the purview of the .

"Tam is a really good school and want to make it better in all academic departments," Porter said. "We want to enhance the experience at Tam for every student."
