Slideshow: Cinco de Mustache at the Cantina

The Cantina Restaurant sponsored a mustache-growing contest to benefit a local charity, luring in firefighters from all over Marin.

celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a mustache growing contest to benefit a local charity, the Richard de Lone Special housing project (RDSHP).

The RDSHP is a non-profit charity established by Austin and Lesley de Lone that is actively raising funds to construct a group home for local residents who have been diagnosed with Prader Willi Syndrome. Currently, the closest facility to accommodate these residents is in Napa, and since many of the residents are minors, the separation from their families can be unbearable.

The Mustaches for Charity Event began five weeks ago when each contestant was given a smooth shave. On Cinco de Mayo at the Cantina in Mill Valley each contestant’s mustache was judged and awards were given in several categories including "celebrity look-alike," "best in show," and "best attempt."
