Pete Seeger Unveils New Oil Spill Song

Nonagerian folk legend, who performed at the Redwoods last September, shows off new song at oil spill benefit.

At a spry 91 years old and less than a year after he thrilled a group of seniors at the Redwoods retirement home on Camino Alto, Pete Seeger shows no signs of letting up. Inspired by the BP oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, the folk legend teamed up with folk singer Lorre Wyatt to write a new song called "God's Counting on Me, God's Counting on You," and unveiled it in a performance at an oil spill benefit concert last Friday night in New York City.

Seeger debuted the track at New York's City Winery as part of a fundraising concert for the Gulf Restoration Network and Global Green USA.

The song directly addresses BP and contains the lyrics, "When drill, baby, drill turns to spill, baby, spill/God's counting on me/God's counting on you."
