Overton Headlines Throckmorton Theatre Benefit – With 'Special Guests' in Tow

A certain famous comedian with Mill Valley ties is expected to join his longtime collaborator at Friday night show.

A year ago, on the eve of the 2012 Comedy in the Plaza event, veteran Bay Area comedian Rick Overton graced the 142 Throckmorton Theatre stage in a wild, wacky night where he was joined by local legend Robin Williams and nearly upstaged by a laughably moronic couple and a woman who decided that texting in the front row was a good idea.

Overton heads back to the Throckmorton this week for Friday night's benefit show for the non-profit theater itself, and while audience distractions can't be predicted, Throckmorton executive director Lucy Mercer said Overton may be joined by a certain famous comedian (and others) who may have already been mentioned above.

The benefit show will also feature the musical talents of the Dick Bright Band, the latest project from the Terra Linda resident.

Overton won an Emmy Award for writing on the HBO series Dennis Miller Live and has appeared in more than 100 feature films, including Bad Teacher with Cameron Diaz and Dinner for Schmucks with Steve Carell. He'll next be seen in the comedy The Babymakers with Olivia Munn and Paul Schneider.

Mercer calls it "a delicious evening of magnificent hyerbole PLUS a pool-size splash of comedic wit – OR we'll have some 'splaining to do..."
