Jimmy Dillon has a tough act to follow Wednesday evening.
The longtime local musician’s band plays the Art Commission’s free tonight at 6 p.m., hoping to maintain the party that Tom Rigney & Flambeau started last week.
Rigney & Flambeau lit up a large crowd at the Depot Plaza last Wednesday, with more than 50 dancers celebrating the balmy evening and several hundred more enjoying the Cajun fiddle tunes.
The Jimmy Dillon Band plays in the Depot Plaza from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, and two more free concerts follow: Aug. 18 (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) features Sofi Rox & Dick Bright (indie/pop) and Forest Sun (Americana/folk) and Aug. 25 (3 p.m. to 5 p.m.) features Melody Walker (American Roots) and Tia Carrol (R & B).
All four concerts are sponsored by the Mill Valley Art Commission, whose board urges attendees to bring lawn chairs, a picnic and dancing shoes.
