Fresh off a string of sold-out Furthur shows at the Sweetwater Music Hall he co-owns, legendary ex-Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir has a double dose of good news for fans, both of the immediate and down-the-road variety.
The Sweetwater announced today via its Facebook page that Weir will be joining Jorma Kaukonen, the veteran guitarist best known for his work with Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna, at Kaukonen's solo show there tonight.
Sweetwater officials said general admission standing tickets are currently available for $47, while general admission seating tickets are on sale for $62. The event begins at 9 p.m. and is nearly sold out.
The Sweetwater is also set to host the debut shows for Weir's latest Ratdog configuration, the Ratdog Quartet, which he unveiled late last month via Ratdog's Twitter account. The group, which includes Weir's Furthur bandmate Jay Lane, as well as bassist Robin Sylvester and singer-songwriter Jonathan Wilson, who has joined Weir at a number of shows in recent months, including the Jerry Garcia 70th birthday tribute show at Weir's TRI Studios in San Rafael.
Ratdog's Sweetwater shows are set for March 3-4, and tickets are available here.
