The word “Suminagashi” translates literally as “spilled ink.” Centuries before the art of marbleizing papers was practiced in Western cultures, Japanese craftsmen created patterns by floating ink on the surface of water and
transferring it to a sheet of paper.
This class will cover the basic technique with a few variations. We will be using Japanese Suminigashi ink to create unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. You will have an opportunity to make as many as you like. You are free to bring any “special” paper you want to decorate or you can use the paper provided.
If time allows we will be inking decorative motifs on top of the marbling. RSVP by August 6.

We’ve removed the ability to reply as we work to make improvements. Learn more here
