Photo Phantasies Exhibit at O'Hanlon Center for the Arts

On Tuesday, April 3, from 6 to 8 p.m., O’Hanlon Center for the Arts will present an open house and reception for its April exhibit “Photo Phantasies,” juried by Stuart Schwartz, photographer and owner of The Image Flow in Mill Valley.  The show runs through April 26, 2012.

Photographs on display will represent the strange, unfamiliar, or unexpected, - items meant to make the viewer think, wonder and say "hmm...”  As always at O’Hanlon Center, abstract and expressionistic works are highlighted.

Before attending Art Center (1979), juror Stuart Schwartz spent hundreds of hours behind cameras as an advertising photographer in the U.S. and Europe, and has worked behind every format camera. In studios and on location, dealing with models, stylists, make-up artists and deadlines, Stuart’s continued success is due to the large volume of impactful photographs that he’s produced for demanding clients.

Also on April 3 from 4 to 6 p.m., the Center will host a Roundtable for the Arts dialogue, where the participating artists will discuss issues relating to their creative processes. The Roundtable, a monthly event sponsored by the Center, is facilitated by painter, writer and O’Hanlon Center member Dr. Peller Marion.

The opening show on April 3 is part of the Mill Valley Art Commission’s monthly Gallery Walk, First Tuesday. The event is free of charge and open to all ages. Artwork on display is available for purchase.  Proceeds from sales support local artists and the O’Hanlon Center as a non-profit organization.

New Work from O’Hanlon Center’s Painter’s Forum

The O’Hanlon Center for the Arts’ Loft Gallery will present new multi-media artwork by members of its Painter’s Forum. This group meets weekly on Mondays at O’Hanlon Center to discuss their artistic process and to get feedback on their works in progress. Items on display will reflect the outgrowth of these creative conversations. The Loft Gallery is adjacent to the O’Hanlon Center Gallery on the Center grounds.
