Mountain Play Association Presents "Hairspray"

The Mountain Play – ‘A Great Outdoor Adventure’ and the San Francisco Bay Area’s most magical outdoor theater experience, is proud to present for the first time in its 98 year history, the Tony Award© winning musical “Hairspray”  for its 2011 season.

Based on the book by Mark O’Donnell and Thomas Meehan and the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Waters, Hairspray is the story of self-proclaimed "pleasantly plump" teenager Tracy Turnblad as she simultaneously pursues stardom as a dancer on a local TV show and rallies against racial segregation in 1962 Baltimore. Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Hairspray features a heart pounding score of such favorites as “Welcome to the 60s,” “Good Morning, Baltimore,” “Mama, I’m a Big Girl Now” and “You Can’t Stop the Beat.” As The New York Times says, “If life were everything it should be, it would be more like HAIRSPRAY. It’s irresistible!”

Tickets range from $30-$40 General Admission. Children 3 and under are FREE. Information for Group discounts and Online Specials available at the Mountain Play website- www.mountainplay.org  or call (415) 383-1100.
