Homestead Valley Music Festival

The 2012 Homestead Valley Music Festival, to be held once again on the Sunday of Labor Day weekend (September 2th) from 11:00 am to 5:30 pm, in the meadow at the Homestead Valley Community Center, at 315 Montford Ave, Mill Valley. 

Headlining and performing a 90-minute power set is PETTY THEFTPetty Theft is comprised of six professional Bay Area musicians that have come together to pay tribute to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Petty Theft delivers Tom Petty’s songs true to the originals and in the spirit of his legendary band's live shows, performing everything from his revered classics to his most current hits.

Petty Theft has built a strong reputation and loyal following as one of the Bay Area’s premier tribute bands. In 2011 and again in 2012, Petty Theft was voted best band in Marin County by readers of the North Bay Bohemian.

Gary Scheuenstuhl’s (of Mill Valley Records fame) Lucky Finn Band, will precede Petty Theft and offer up the straight ahead classic rock that is often heard around the Marin County area including Mill Valley’s 2 AM Club.

Just prior to Lucky Finn will be Skin and Bone, featuring local jazz musician Max Perkoff and company.  Max has toured nationally since 1995 with Mike Vax, Cami Thompson, Linda Kosut, Terese Genecco, and his own group. In 2004, ‘05 and ‘06, touring included New York City, Los Angeles, Reno, and many venues throughout Oregon. Gig venues in New York City include Jazz At Lincoln Center, La Mama Theater, The Encore, & The Metropolitan Room, The Gardenia, and Paramount

Studios in Los Angeles. In the SF Bay Area he plays at Yoshi's in Oakland, Jazz At Pearls in San Francisco and as a sideman at virtually every club and venue for jazz and blues in the region. Festivals include the San Jose Jazz Festival; Sacramento Jazz Jubilee;

Mammoth Lakes Jazz Festival; Sun Valley Idaho Swing N’ Dixie Festival; Sisters Oregon Jazz Festival; and many more.

A special treat this year is a Marin Youth Showcase featuring Caroline de Lone (daughter of local fave Austin de Lone), Sofi Rox and Matt Jaffe, three HIGHLY talented and touted teens from the Mill Valley area.

Lots of food, beverages, (including generously donated fine craft brews from Lagunitas Brewing Company) and fun will accompany the our excellent musical offering including a menu brought to you by Jon O of  Jon O Catering with Marin Horizon Schools “BBQ Crew” doing the heavy lifting, Lisa’s Bar in the Meadow, run by rapier witted Homestead resident Lisa Santos, jumpee (courtesy of Marin horizon School), and a cool kids craft area from Kim Strub and friends rounding out a day for the entire family.
