As Austin, Texas-based photographer Larry Golyzniak remembers it, he was in the Bay Area visiting his girlfriend in San Jose in March 1984. They headed north to Mill Valley to check out the area. Golyzniak says he'd long been a fan of the guitarist Michael Bloomfield and had wanted to visit the famed Village Music to see what was in stock.

As they parked in downtown Mill Valley, Golyzniak spotted this car, loaded to the hilt with doll heads, mannequins and assorted randomness, with piles of luggage on top of the car. Check out more of Golyzniak's photos here.
