A Macro Look at Tam Valley

Photographer Arnie Battaglene has been experimenting with macro photography as "a way to explore the world of bugs and all things small and alien to our scale of life."

From to , Tam Valley photographer Arnie Battaglene has long turned his lens toward the natural world around us.

Lately, Battaglene has been experimenting with macro photography. Here's why, in his own words:

"I am fascinated with bugs. I think they are just awesome and many are very beautiful. Ok maybe I’m not to keen on flies and roaches but I grew up in Australia where roaches are the size of small dogs and the national hat has corks on the end of strings hanging around the brim to keep the flies away. Macro photography is one of my favorite things to do. It gives me a way to explore the world of bugs and all things small and alien to our scale of life. I am constantly thrilled at the surprises that great me as I am hiking around with my camera taking photos of parts of the living world to small to see clearly."
