Removal of Parking Spaces Near Terminal is Questioned

Changes came Tuesday morning for drivers used to parking near the Larkspur Ferry Terminal. Many normally-available parking spots on Sir Francis Drake Blvd. were shut down by the city after a recent site assessment.

According to an announcement posted on the city site November 15, "The results ... have concluded that the only option available to ensure a safe stopping sight distance is to enforce no-parking along ... Sir Francis Drake Blvd."

Patch reader Lane Kasselman, a Marin resident who rides the ferry daily sent this note to us:

"Where are those 150 drivers supposed to park? The Marin Airporter parking lot doesn't have capacity for that volume + typical overflow of $4 parkers.

"Seems like that's another 150 cars that will be added to the freeway and a loss in ridership for the Ferry. Very shortsighted on the part of Larkspur. They could even make those parking spots metered and ferry riders would gladly pay."
