Ivanov died when a fire destroyed his cabin on Meadow Way in Cascade Canyon. The Marin County Coroner's Office has yet to identify the charred body found in the ashes and debris, but friends have confirmed his death.

Marin County Fire officials have said the likely cause of the fire was the diversion of electricity for a marijuana-growing operation on the property. The cause is still under investigation.
