City, PG&E Prep for Major Pipeline Replacement Project in Downtown Mill Valley

The following is a news release from the city of Mill Valley:

The City of Mill Valley Department of Public Works is working closely with PG&E on an upcoming pipeline replacement project in the Downtown area of Mill Valley. The purpose of this project is to enhance gas service to PG&E customers by replacing the gas lines with modern piping, creating a safer and more reliable natural gas system.

Construction is planned to begin the week of March 17 and will continue through July 2014. Please note that all construction schedules are subject to change due to weather restrictions and other unforeseen delays.

Here is the latest news on the downtown pipeline replacement project:

What is in progress: City staff and PG&E crews are preparing Gardner Avenue for construction by posting "No Parking Signs" and marking the bell holes. A bell hole is any hole other than a continuous trench opened for working on a buried pipeline.

What is happening next week: PG&E crews will dig bell holes and pothole utilities on Gardner Avenue. The gas line work will cause Gardner Avenue to be closed this week. Residents will have driveway access. Please follow posted construction signs and use alternate routes, if possible.

What to expect in the next few weeks: Construction will continue on Gardner Avenue and then move to the upper part of Corte Madera Avenue between Lower Alcatraz and Lovell Avenue.
