Aline McClain, Ardent Protector of Marin Open Space, Dies at 93
Activist helped lead the first successful recall of a county supervisor and was part of the successful "Save Horse Hill" campaign.
Longtime Mill Valley resident Aline McClain, an ardent protector of open space in Marin and lifetime member of the Outdoor Art Club, died March 1 in Novato, according to the Marin Independent Journal.
McClain was 93.
“She worked on the ‘Save Our Seashore’ campaign to preserve Point Reyes, fought against the Marincello development on what is now the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, and worked on the ‘Save Horse Hill’ committee to protect 34 acres of open space in the Alto Bowl,” the Marin IJ reported.

A memorial will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 PM Sunday, April 14, 2013 at the Mill Valley Outdoor Art Club, according to the IJ obituary. No donations are requested.
