Dear Friends,
Last Saturday morning our beloved Snowy, a white cockatiel, accidentally flew away from our home in downtown Mill Valley. We believe she may be in the wider Mill Valley area - especially Homestead Valley, Sycamore Park, Blithdale Canyon or even further way - after strong winds on Monday.
Please be on the lookout for her and let your friends and neighbors know too. (Attached is a flyer with her photo and my contact info in case she's found).
We did an extensive search in the downtown area during the past few days. We spotted her several times in our neighborhood up until yesterday. She was clearly trying to come home. She'd circle around our house high in the air but cockatiels are very airborne and lousy navigators and she couldn't figure out how to land. (She flies free inside the house but is unaccustomed to flying in a wide open spaces outside).
At some point she will figure out how to land, but it's very possible she's lost and won't be able to find us. I'm hoping if she finds you or one of your friends she can eventually make it home through your help.
She may turn up in a backyard, or fly to your shoulder. She loves human companionship and will eventually try to find someone to engage with. She's super friendly, tame and loving.
If you see her, just put your finger out directly in front of her feet and she'll hop on. Then she'll hop on your shoulder. Please bring her into a secure room with no predators. Give her some water and food (anything except avocados). And please call me. 415-305-9184
We're praying hard that Snowy will be safe during her big adventure. She's been an integral part of our family for the past 3 years and we hope she will return home. If not, we pray she will adjust to living a happy life as a wild bird or find another loving family to join.
Thank you for help during this difficult time in our lives.
