Marin writer and marketing consultant Colette Weil Parrinello, owner of Summit Marketing (Mill Valley, CA), has accepted the position of Co-Regional Adviser for the local SF North & East Bay Region of the premier international children's literature non-profit, the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
SCBWI, which celebrated 30 years of educating writers and illustrators about the field in 2011, has more than 22,000 members in 70 regions throughout the globe. The SF North and East Bay Region hosts a vibrant selection of events, including Creative Get-Away Retreats in Muir Beach, illustrator meetings in Sausalito, intensive workshops in Oakland, local meetings in Walnut Creek and Sebastopol, and an all-day conference at Preservation Park in Oakland.
Co-Regional Adviser Margaret Speaker Yuan, who now shares the helm with Weil Parrinello, notes, "Colette has been doing more than 50% of the work for the events in our region for several years now. We are pleased that our international group has recognized her efforts. Our charter calls for us to act as a network for the exchange of knowledge between writers, illustrators, editors, publishers, agents, librarians, educators, booksellers and others involved with literature for young people. Colette’s efforts in organizing and marketing our educational programs exemplify service to the children’s literature community at the highest level."
In addition to her volunteer work for SCBWI, Weil Parrinello owns Summit Marketing, which provides marketing consulting services for clients as diverse as the home health care industry, independent charter schools, and the Marin County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services.
