So last night we all go down to Sweetwater for a show. Guess what?  NO POWER.  NO SHOW!  So what happened?  And why don't we have any news about this?  Please tell us!

Wow, thanks for driving around and checking it out. I wonder how the cables came down? And... was that the reason for the outage? It is even more puzzling as to why there has been no mention of it anywhere as it was quite wide spread and at a critical time.

Hi there, sorry we weren't able to get info on this. Especially at night when I'm trying to enjoy family time. I run 15 sites so it can be difficult to know about this things unless people tell me. Feel free to email me at renee.schiavone@patch.com if there are big things going on around town that I may have missed.

The source of the power outage was likely a large tree that fell on the wires on West Blithedale Ave. right by the Railroad Grade trailhead. The tree fell at the exact same time that the power went out across most of Mill Valley (I know because I live right there). The downed wires at Blithedale and Lomita sound like a coincidence unless the downed tree on West Blithedale at the exact same time as the outage was a coincidence. The fallen tree sent a huge surge up the line. It took 20 hours for the power to return at our house.

Hi Geoff. Yes, your story was confirmed by a friend who also lives up West Blithedale Canyon. There power was out for the same amount of time as well as about 40 other homes in your area due to all the individual lines that were pulled down by the tree. One of the firefighters confirmed that the power surge knocked out the transformer at Lomita and East Blithedale. Must have been quite the fireworks display! I still don't know how many residences and businesses it affected, but it was quite a few. Never a dull moment in our little shire!

However; there is no excuse for not reporting MORE on this situation before almost two full days have gone by. The fault lies in the FACT that you have shared: YOU, a single human being, have been made editor of 15, yes FIFTEEN, patch sites. There is no way, no how, you can do any reporting of any quality with any of your 'charges'. So, it will come down to integrity for you - as it must have for the last two editors that left in rapid succession. You just cannot do a good JOB with what you are given at this time. Don't beat yourself up about it, but also, don't kid yourself either. To make a personal excuse like 'family time' on a public forum detracts from your professional life and from the reality that no ONE person can do what is expected from you. Don't diminish yourself.
