The book group begins January 14 and will meet Fridays from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. through February 18 at the Mill Valley Recreation Center. Small Press Distribution (SPD) is also partnering with the Marin Free County Library to sponsor three other senior book groups, including one in Spanish, at various locations in Marin. Participants will receive free copies of SPD's books: "I'jaam: An Iraqi Rhapsody," by Sinan Antoon, and "Khirbet Khizeh," by S. Yizhar. Both novels are set in the Middle East and explore the tumult of Sadaam Hussein's Iraq and newly-independent Israel. The facilitated sessions are also free of charge thanks to support from the Marin Community Foundation.

Mill Valley Community Center is an impressive facility that opened in 2001. There are two buildings with a meeting and health focus respectively. The large reception hall can accommodate between 285 and 400 guests, depending upon seating format. The Center also has smaller spaces that are ideal for classes, meetings and workshops. The second building has a fitness center and an indoor swimming pool with retractable roof. It also features a 120-foot spiral water slide, jacuzzi spa and outdoor patio.

The Center also offers fields for soccer, baseball, softball and football outside. A community garden is also featured outside. You'll find the Mill Valley Community Center near the corner of Camino Alto and East Blithedale.
