Centerpeice Screening: My Week with Marilyn
CineArts at Sequoia, 25 Throckmorton Ave, Mill Valley, CA | Get Directions »
$30.00
Director Simon Curtis is our special guest for MVFF's Centerpiece screening of My Week with Marilyn.
In his memoir, The Prince, the Showgirl and Me, Colin Clark chronicled an epochal moment on the set with the legendary Laurence Olivier and luminous Marilyn Monroe, but gallantly omitted a whirlwind week he spent touring Great Britain with the American actress and icon. Director Simon Curtis lifts the curtain on this idyllic time, when the young Clark provided the star with a welcome reprieve from the limelight. In his charming feature debut, Curtis succeeds in capturing Monroe’s notorious vulnerability along with the incomparably radiant charisma that would soon catapult her to stardom in Some Like It Hot (1956).

Celebrate the Festival's midpoint with a screening of My Week with Marilyn and a conversation with director Simon Curtis.

More About CineArts at Sequoia
From its opening in February 1928, the Sequoia Theatre has been one of the entertainment staples of Mill Valley for more than 80 years. First operated by the Blumenfeld Theatres chain, it was turned into a two-screen theater in 1975, and its operation was taken over by Pacific Theatres one year later.
In 1999, Pacific Theatres remodeled the theater once again, putting in high-back seats, upgrading the sound system and completely altering the lobby layout. In 2001, Pacific sold its Marin theaters to San Rafael-based Century Theatres, which now operate the Sequoia under its CineArts banner of art house theaters. The CineArts at Sequoia is the host of the annual Mill Valley Film Festival, held the first two weeks each October.
