Slideshow: Library's Picnic in the Park

The Mill Valley Library celebrated its centennial by turning back the clock in Old Mill Park, with live music, games, crafts and history.

The Mill Valley Library has been celebrating its 100th birthday all year with an array of events, from speakers and comedians to performance groups and origami boat races. The centennial festivities took the form of an actual birthday party last Saturday with the library's 100th Birthday Picnic in the Park, featuring a number of musical acts, including Mill Valley native Emily Bonn.

"It was a picture perfect day in every way," said Mill Valley City Librarian Anji Brenner. "We were incredibly pleased with the how many people turned out to celebrate the library's birthday and express their support. It really felt like you were experiencing a picnic in the park from years past. Everyone was laid back and enjoyed the music, cake, games and food. Our huge thanks to the musicians, volunteers, in-kind donors, and the community for making our celebration a day to remember."
